Film Club – Saturday 30th September – Hidden Figures

September 5, 2017 in Event, Film, What's On

We hope you’re looking forward to our new season of films as much as we are.

If you know anyone who’d like to join, please ask them to contact us on

C-Fylm (who licence and supply our films) no longer distinguish between over- and under-65s – so we’re going to follow suit.

All memberships cost £5 (which includes entry to first film), and all tickets will now cost £3. As well as increasing our donations to Polbathic Village Hall, this will speed up the admission process as everyone will already have paid the right amount for their ticket.

Our programme starts on Saturday Sept. 30th with “Hidden Figures”, which, with drama and humour,  tells the long-overlooked story of the African-American women who played a key role in the USA’s space programme in the 1960s. Top-class performances from Kevin Costner and a sparky trio of actresses (or do I have to call them actors now?)

Doors open 7.00, film at 7.30.

Tickets will be on sale from St Germans Community Shop, and from Nora Karseras in Downderry (250313) from Monday morning (4th).

Following that, we’ll have even more films to lift the spirits!

 Oct. 28th – “Lion”

Nov. 25th – “Their Finest”

Dec. 16th – “White Christmas”

and we hope to have “Dunkirk” early in the new year.

Two members suggested films last year which were very successful.

Don’t hesitate to nominate your choice!

Finally, it would be very good if we had a reserve projectionist, just  in case there’s a month when I can’t attend. Please let me know if you’d like to know what it involves, and whether you’d be willing to consider offering your services on a very occasional basis.

Hope to see you all soon
